We at Viyan Kids strongly believe that every kid is unique and so must be their way of learning. The very foundation of our institution thus lies in honing and catering to this quality of uniqueness found in every kid. Having said that, what we believe is that one curriculum can’t fit all. Especially, in this early age of learning, where children should be provided with the right ambience to explore and indulge in play instead of getting constrained into a structed curriculum.

In fact, if you just look back to our older generations, we find that their schooling started at the age of six only but now in this so-called millennial generation, children are sent to schools as they turn three. We are in a hurry to impose class 1 syllabus right from kindergarten by putting them into structured classroom sessions and get them into rote learning. It’s like growing a hybrid mango tree of dwarf variety that will fruit within a year of planting instead of going for the native mango and waiting for it to take years together to grow healthy and send its roots deep to stand any weather and taste the naturally ripened and sweet fruits. You would have certainly come to know the difference in both fruits with the alarming increase in health issues and need for awareness programmes to go native and organic. If growing a tree itself needs this much consideration, then what about your kids? Aren’t their growing years very precious? Shouldn’t their natural traits and inborn inquisitiveness be given the freedom to explore? Shouldn’t their uniqueness and authenticity be cherished? So, when you ask for our methodology, our answer is always absolutely nothing.

Our methodology?? Absolutely nothing. Yes, you read it right. It certainly doesn’t mean that we are directionless. Just that we believe every kid can’t fit into single methodology. We don’t believe in flowery words or technical terms naming out various pedagogies to capture your attention. Our approach is straightforward and simple. Our kids help structure our pedagogy, that too, a personalised and a dynamic one. We believe in grooming the uniqueness in each kid by going in their own way; be it audial, visual, tactile, social, emotional or any other. We shall be by their side as guides and not impose our ideas as instructors. We believe in igniting their cognitive and meta cognitive skills by motivating them to question more which shall help them in making better choices as they grow.

We hold a great responsibility in being a catalyst in this educational reform. It’s time that we understand and cater to the need of the hour. There’s no point in reciting London bridge’s falling down, if the kid is not made aware of the water body near him being polluted. There’s no point in teaching water cycle if a kid is not made aware that every drop of water in his bottle is precious. There’s no point in teaching about planets under a roof if he’s not let to explore and get amazed by the twinkling stars at night. Pre schooling is a time where kids need to be joyful exploring their surroundings in their own ways. It’s a time when the kids need more of love to know they are valued and there by building their self-esteem. It’s a time when etiquettes and core character set have to be laid strong. We at Viyan Kids work towards providing an ambience filled with love where learning shall be a liberating experience. We believe in passing on ancestral values and beliefs and carrying them forward if they are really worth it and discarding what does not hold good with time.

Kids are curiosity personified and we would just love to hold their hands at places where they stumble and channelize their curiosity in a way that they find solution independently.

We believe in letting them think, quest and seek. The time they stop questioning, their growth becomes a question mark.

But as a parent if you are still not convinced and wonder if this approach will work, then it’s time to remind yourself that every reform did carry the burden of scepticism and criticism thrown at it but at the end, when it was recognised with time, it made history.
